There are entire chapters on sexually transmitted diseases, childbirth, and the eloquently titled “The dying and the dead.” These are, of course, actual concerns for captains of larger vessels, but not entirely impossible to need help with when you’re on your own journeys. But the chapters on first aid, injuries, make-shift stitching, and other facets of emergency medicine.
